Q: Are there any special instructions for your candles? A: Yes! Wood wicks are somewhat unique. They don't behave like normal wicks do. You need to spend a little more time lighting them. It takes wood a little longer to light than cotton. Then, after every burn, you need to trim the wood wick by breaking off the charred part. This may not leave much to light, but it should light just fine.
Q: Why soy wax? A: We think that soy is just the best choice. Paraffin is the number one wax used by candle manufacturers globally. We don't like paraffin because it's a petroleum product and supports big oil, it's dirty (ever seen that nasty black stuff around the mouth of your candle?), and it doesn't last as long. Soy wax is 100% renewable, produced by American farmers, burns cleaner than paraffin, and lasts a whole lot longer. We also think it smells better. There's other options out there, but they are not as affordable and certainly don't smell as nice! That's why we chose soy wax for our candles.
Q: Why wooden wicks? A: Mostly because there is more surface area to the wick, creating a wider burn and thus dispersing the scent much better. Also, they look and sound pretty darn cool! All of the wood is harvested in the mid-west and then the farmers plant new trees in their place which makes this element 100% renewable as well. We like that!
Q: Why is my candle not perfectly smooth or why does it have air bubbles? A: We do our very best to make sure that each candle looks beautiful and smooth. Due to the fact that soy wax does not always pour uniformly, occasionally our candles will have some minor cosmetic imperfections. That does not, however, affect the quality of the candle at all. We took this into consideration when we chose to use soy wax because we think that the benefits of soy are worth it! We promise they'll always smell awesome and burn for a very long time!
